Fedora European Infrastructure (FEI)

This idea has been in the back of my mind since FOSDEM 2007, and we are working on making it a reality right now. Have a look here -- http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MaxSpevack/FY09

This is the draft for Fedora European Infrastructure for the upcoming european budget, initially started at Fosdem 2007 .

Aim

Establish a proper European Infrastructure which will coordinate FedoraEvents in Europe through one person ("Executive").

Leadership

Role of Executive

  • coordinate efforts among European countries
  • encourage local communities to strengthen their efforts
  • help ambassadors organizing events among Europe
  • help ambassadors financing their events in Europe
  • interaction between different European event-teams
  • work together with other Fedora Projects (than Ambassador) in the future
  • define with the Ambassadors which events (per year) should be covered (directly during a ["FAD"] )
  • hold strength communication with FAMSCo and the Fedora Board

Requirements to be the Executive

  • speak both a local language and English
  • be a known active former local ambassador
  • constant investment of time and work is needed
  • strength diplomatic skills
  • willing to travel
  • willing to coordinate Ambassadors (locally and)
  • business economist

  • a swiss bank account (proposed by JoergSimon)
  • before or after LinuxTag2007  ? - not yet decided
  • Austria is also nice with tax! - ClausReheis
  • 214€ from CLT by ChitleshGoorah and JoergSimon - first deposit as an example to follow
  • Executive will possess accountdata and id in shops which will be useful to produce swags or dvds (proposed by JoergSimon)
  • a non profit organisation, and sell things through a shop, there are no tax at all normally (or at least in france)- ThomasCanniot
  • bank account managed by a legal entity (not by an individual) - ThomasCanniot
