• for installations with the GNOME desktop allocating 2 GB of memory is recommended, problem were reported when only 1 GB is used
• the KDE desktop can't be installed using the installer due some unsatisfied dependencies, but should be installable from a running system
• we are seeing weird behaviour (aka crashes) in various processes when run under z/VM 6.x - see thread starting with http://www2.marist.edu/htbin/wlvtype?LINUX-VM.88711
