[edit] Echo icon cleanup

This page was made in response of problems reported by MatthiasClasen:

The purpose is to:

• Remove unnecessary junk left by both Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator
• Resize these icons to 48x48 in accordance to Echo guideline

[edit] Scripts

The svg-cleanup package contains scripts created to simplify the process 1. trim_svg : remove binary junk created by Adobe Illusrator. Created by CharlieBrej. This method is now obsolete 1. svg-cleanup.xsl : a xsl script that clean the xml tag. Created by NicolasMailhot. This method is recommended.

[edit] Instruction

• Create a directory where you extract the svg icons from Echo development wiki page (example: /home/user/svgtest).
• Extract the script in parent directory (for example: /home/user)
• Follow instruction about the use of script svg-cleanup.xsl
• Some svg icons may incorrectly display due to a bug of librsvg in Nautilus (File manager for GNOME interface). A workaround is to use XML Editor in Inkscape (Edit -> XML Editor).
• Resize large icons (ending with 'L') to 48x48, medium icons (enditing with '24') to 24x24 and small icons (ending with 'S')svg to 16x16.

Some icons have duplicate layers that need to be manually removed when checking on XML editor from Inskspace. One of icons is preferences-desktop-accessibility

LuyaTshimbalanga: I have succesfully trimmed all listed svg. What remains to be done is to resize these icons to 48x48, compared them to the png version to fixed them (for example, format-align-justify).

update - 2006-04-25 : All icons are scaled. Notable librsvg bug is audio-card variant and application-other.

update - 2006-04-27 : Fixed icons that do not propertly display.
