A page of the Fonts Special Interest Group

A rounded sans-serif typeface, derived from MgOpen Modata

Contents

[edit] Description

BPreplay came alive from the need to improve MgOpenModata, a rounded typeface made recently available as an open source font from its owner Magenta. Thus, the regular weight of MgOpenModata went through a series of glyph corrections, and in several cases complete alterations (eg. a, epsilon, zeta, xi, omega, etc.), and through this process BPreplay regular was born. BPreplay italics, bold and bold italics, together with small caps and old style numerals, were redesigned from scratch based on BPreplay regular.

[edit] Caveats

  1. The authors unfortunately made a mess of the licensing, by releasing their variant under the OFL when the original MgOpen License is not OFL-compatible (but ok for us). To package this font you therefore need to politely convince the BP Replay authors to fix this (speaking Greek would probably help)

[edit] Additional information

Fedora makes heavy use of Modata in its documents. An improved version would be mighty nice. Also, there are several other fonts on this page, if their licensing conditions could be clarified in a Fedora-friendly way packaging them would probably be good too.
