The Fedora Design Suite includes well-selected applications, fitting a variety of use cases. Whether you decide to work on publishing documents, creating images, pictures, website, or even 3D content, the Design Suite has a fitting tool.

What's new?

  • Based on Gnome 3.8 desktop.
  • Removal from thelist of packages no longer available in Fedora repository: agave and jockosher.
  • darktable, font-manager replace rawtherapee and fontmatrix as default package respectely.
  • Inclusion of audacity, bluefish, cmyktool, entangle, colord-extra-profile (obsoleting shared-color-profiles-extra starting from Fedora 19),filezilla and pdfshuttler.
  • More fonts (or typefaces) included those used by Fedora Design team are added: Adobe Source Sans Pro, Comfortaa, Lato and Overpass.
  • Due to the addition of several packages, Design Suite can no longer fit in a CD. For this reason, the spin now requires a minimum of 2GB USB drive or a DVD.

Benefit to Fedora

This spin is insofar beneficial for Fedora itself, as it helps the Design Team by fitting its needs through selecting often used applications and including them on one spin. Additionally, it helps new users interested in design matters to join Fedora, since they'll be able to download the spin and start directly using the applications - without being required to look into the load of available packages. In a way, it fosters the design community inside Fedora.

Kickstart File

Latest ks file inside git repository as LiveDVD (might renamed it as Live)

Nightly Builds

Nightly builds of the latest .ks file can be found at nightly compose website in either 32-bits (known as i686 architecture) or 64-bits (as x86_64).

Sometimes nightly builds fail due internal change. We are working on them! :)

ISO Name / FS Label

  • fedora-19-Live-design-suite

Dependencies

The current list of packages for inclusion is available. Whereas there's also one for package we consider, none of them should block the release of the spin.

We are also working on an equivalent comps group, which is a non-blocking component, though.

Aside from this, no other dependencies are required.

Scope / Testing

Generally, the spin should boot and popular applications like Gimp and Inkscape should work. The nightly builds will make testing quite easier. So far, no extraordinary changes have been included.
