Fedora offers software for both GNOME and KDE to manage your finances. The software is not enabled by default in the live-cd versions of Fedora, but can be downloaded. If you install the DVD version of Fedora, you will be able to install the financial software.
[edit] Gnucash
Gnucash is not installed by default from the live-cd or the DVD. However, you can choose to install Gnucash from the DVD. If you installed Fedora using the live-cd, install Gnucash by typing the following into the console:
su -c 'yum install gnucash'
To install using Pirut, click Applications > Add/Remove Software. When Pirut opens, select Applications > Office/Productivity, and then click the [Optional Packages] button. When the Packages window opens, scroll down and tick the box next to gnucash, and then click the [Close] button. Finally, once you're finished selecting the packages you want to install, click the [Apply] button in Pirut.
After you install Gnucash, you can launch it by clicking Applications > Office > Gnucash Finance Management.
| This is the icon on which you click to launch Gnucash. |
For additional help, refer to the documents on the Gnucash website.
[edit] Kmymoney
As with Gnucash, Kmymoney is not installed by default. To install it, click KMenu > Applications > System > Add/Remove Software. When Pirut opens, select Desktop Environments > KDE (K Desktop Environment), and then click the [Optional Packages] button. When the packages window opens, scroll down and tick the box next to kmymoney2; then click the [Close] button. Once you're finished selecting the packages you want to install, click the [Apply] button in Pirut.
Alternatively, type the following into the console to install Kmymoney:
su -c 'yum install kmymoney2'
After you install Kmymoney, you can launch it by clicking KMenu > Applications > Office > KMyMoney.
| This is the icon on which you click to launch Kmymoney. |
For additional help, refer to the FAQs on the KMyMoney website.
