History with Fedora

My first contact with Fedora happened many years ago, back in 2007 when as a speaker I met someone who used to promote Fedora. I have used Fedora on and off ever since but only at the beginning of 2012 I started officially as a contributor. At first, I became an ambassador which led me to organize four F19 Release Parties not only in my city but in other places too. I have been ever since an invited speaker at several events allowing me to have talks about Fedora in 13 events only in the second semester of 2012, in all sort of places in Brazil (plus outside Brazil, remotely).

Apart from my contributions as an ambassador I have also done my best in the localization team, translating Yum and Fedora. Wherever I go, I always try to bring new contributors to Fedora and having watched closely several teams like L10n, Marketing, Ambassadors and Freemedia allowed me to have a good idea of where people may fit in better and contribute the best they can.

Goals related to FAmSCo
* Supporting the communication of ambassadors worldwide.

LATAM meetings are excellent to make sure people will eventually have to handle with contributors from other countries in LATAM. However, not only language but other aspects limit some contributors from getting in touch with people outside their countries and outside LATAM. People everywhere have lots to learn and lots to teach. Therefore, I believe contributors have much to gain from the experience of meeting new contributors from other locations, sharing experiences and I want to support that not only in LATAM but everywhere.

* Supporting the presence of Fedora in events/activities

As ambassadors, we're the face of Fedora. Consequently, the presence of not only ambassadors but contributors in FOSS events are essential. Supporting this, I will try to assist contributors to make their budget so that the best can be done with the money, assuring Fedora is efficiently present in as much essential places as it is possible.

* Why do you want to be a member of FAmSCo?:
* Fedora Join SIG
** Improve collaboration inside Ambassadors group as well as between Ambassadors and others, following things like these: http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/ambassadors/2011-October/018319.html .

* What is the proper role for FAmSCo in a global project like Ambassadors?:
New ways to attract contributors to Fedora should always be something to consider. Bringing new contributors is one of the main goals of an ambassador, thus we should always consider thinking of strategies that would make this task more efficient.
** Coordinate ambassadors in regions and countries.
** Support ambassadors to run their own events and other activities.
** Coordinate with Fedora leadership and CommArch for budget and reimbursement.

* What are your particular goals related to FAmSCo?:
* Support the organization of Fedora events
** Connect ambassadors among countries and regions better; support local ambassadors to make regional meetings more effective (e.g. more people involved, more effective discussions, faster from thoughts to actions, etc.).
** Make budget budget/fund review, approval, usage and reimbursement faster and more effective.

* What would you change about the way Ambassadors is run?:
I have more than 10 years of experience in the organization of national and international events. Release Parties are a great idea and I'd like to work with other ambassadors to create new small Fedora events (or to promote FADs) that would make clear the local presence of Fedora and work as another way to both introduce new people to Fedora and bring new contributors into the project.
** Run more FADs, Fedora release parties, etc. to introduce more about Fedora to people and to share knowledge and experience among Fedora users and contributors as well.

* Please briefly describe your history with Fedora:

History with Fedora:
* Have been using Fedora as my primary OS since ~ 2006, prior to this I was a FreeBSD user and contributor for ~ 10’ish years. In 2012, I decided to come out of the shadows to become active in the Fedora community. Joined the Ambassador group for the North America region, Have been chairing regional NA ambassador meetings, attending tech conferences working booths mostly, and speaking at small local events (LUGs, etc) in and around the Dallas, Texas area. Personally distribute no less than 500 DVD per cycle, usually much much more. Love talking to people and representing Fedora project.

* Active in the Fedora-arm team. Very passionate about embedded computers of all kinds, and want to see that Fedora has a good future with the emerging Maker/Hacker culture, as well as the mobile stuff, and emerging enterprise hyperscale stuff. This is pretty much my main focus within the project, and I have no problem revealing that my original intent and participation in the ambassadors program was a scheme to go around demonstrating Fedora on ARM.

* Very proud to say that I was recently selected to join the Fedora release engineering team. Still in training wheels, learning how the Fedora sausage is made so to speak.

* Also worth mentioning that I was recently selected to join the Fedora.NEXT  Base working group as a voting member. My main agenda here is to have closeness to the community and represent all of you in BIG decisions.

* Lastly I can claim to be a packager, because I own a few, but I’m not very uber in this regard. It was barely worth mentioning, but worth another bullet point. I am planning to accelerate my package ownership, and eventually get into reviewing and helping others get started.

Goals related to FAmSCo:
** Fedora User since Fedora Core , Linux User since 1994, Slackware, Red Hat and others
* This last cycle there was nobody representing the North America region in FAmSCo, and that made me sad. So I've decided to nominate myself in the hopes of representing my region. Given the autonomy of the regions, I’m not sure the purpose of FAmSCo anymore, but regardless I’d like to join and be helpful.
** Fedora Contributor since 2009
** Organize Fedora Panama Community
** Fedora Translator
** Fedora Packager
** Ruby SIG
** FudCon Panama main organizer 2011
** Member of Floss-pa, Panamá foss community

* What are your particular goals related to FAmSCo?:
* So I can say that one of my biggest and most heartfelt agendas for myself in the ambassador program is to promote women in computer science, and engineering in general. I’d love to find way to get Fedora more actively involved in these kind of things in my region and around the world. As I’ve said before, I like to demonstrate Fedora on ARM, but I love to do those things toward an audiences of young women and have them come away with happy technical experiences. Anything that engages women in a positive technical way is a huge plus.

** Improve swags distribution on Latam
* I’m always looking for ways to introduce Linux to new audiences, with an eye towards capturing future users and hopefully contributors. This means going outside the normal tech conferences, possibly into high schools or universities, or into conferences that are likely to have technical folks, or linux-curious open minds.
** Organize a budged and it uses in Latam
** Make budget distribution on Latam reach all ambassador that need it
** Collaborate with other regions, share experience and learn from them

* What would you change about the way Ambassadors is run?:
EOF
** We need to improve mentoring to teach new ambassadors how to organize and use Fedora resources
** FAD to improve Latam contribution to Fedora.

Introduction
* Please briefly describe your history with Fedora.
<hr>
** Started using Linux around 4 years ago, Fedora was my first distribution of choice and I found it better than any other.
** I'm a packager, translator, designer, website team member and ambassador. Apart from that I also triage bugs with my free time, submit patches to upstream projects now and then, and I try to make Fedora as easy to use as possible, wherever I can influence that.
* Why do you want to be a member of FAmSCo?
** I want Fedora to be better, and to do that we need good collaboration between the different teams in the project and make sure everything will run as smoothly as possible. I hope that by being a member of FAmSCo I could help achieve this goal.
* What is the proper role for FAmSCo in a global project like Ambassadors?
** Coordinate the different groups and make sure everything is running as smoothly as possible.
* What are your particular goals related to FAmSCo?
** Make it easier for new ambassadors to join, mostly by making more responsible people sponsors, so that the waiting time to get sponsored into the Ambassadors project will be lower.
* What would you change about the way Ambassadors is run?
** Mostly, I would like to have a Fedora Events web app for ambassadors to use to organize events (incl. swag and budget requests, list of volunteers, and information for users).

Introduction
* Please briefly describe your history with Fedora:
user 1 (user_1)
** I started with Free Media group and then joined with the Ambassador group. Since then I am contributing to Design Team, Marketing Team, News,Summer coding and Localization work as well.
** Locally, I have organized some events including release parties and fedora events. I represent the Fedora project in events and initiated the fedora local communityLK_Community.
** I expanded the Fedora project in University level locally, that makes the local community stronger and also working with APAC ambassadors towards a strong community by assisting them.
** I manage APAC Bi-weekly meetings with David and Tuan.
** I wrangle fedora-apac trac and facilitate fellow FAms in the region.
** Elected as a member of FAmSCo for F18 cycle.

* Why do you want to be a member of FAmSCo?:
Introduction
I hope I did manage F18 term in FAmSCo and I would like to keep it up by trying to achieve following vision;
** FAmSCo is playing a major role with in the Ambassador Group, indeed they set the path to proceed.
** First, the main aim is to support the Ambassador Group.
** I need to provide a dedicated, effective support which Ambassadors need.
** I would like to be a part of the team and be an active part of decision making process which lead shaping the project.
** Further I want to make the FAmSCo, a place which is more attentive, sensitive, responsive and assisted to ambassadors and their needs.

* What is the proper role for FAmSCo in a global project like Ambassadors?:
* Please briefly describe your history with Fedora.
** The main role of the FAmSCo is to provide the support that Ambassadors seek. The support should be fast and it should be effective. Such a support keeps the global ambassador effect active and useful. Therefore FAmSCo as the hub, should provide assistant and resources and ensure the ambassadors are getting what they need, when they need. Being align with the team is another very important role that FAmSCo should play. FAmSCo should be very sensitive with the ambassadors. Should identify their needs, ideas, thoughts and try to facilitate, encourage and even try to get novel ideas to shape the team and as well as the project. FAmSCo govern the ambassador team and as well as act as the central hub which connects other entities as well.
* What are your particular goals related to FAmSCo?

* What are your particular goals related to FAmSCo?:
** As a candidate it is easier for you if I mention my vision clearly, that shows mainly How I see and What I ll do as a member of the FAmSCo if I am elected.
** FAmSCo should be responsive/ sensitive to needs and issues with in FAms.
** FAmSCo should be attentive.
** FAmSCo should be motivational.
** Develop the regions country wise.

* What would you change about the way Ambassadors is run?:
Questionnaire
** Overall the ambassador group is running well. There are few things we need to make up.
* Question1?
** More interaction is needed with in the group, so that we can encourage the ambassadors to participate to meetings and the FAmSCo can help them to make the meeting successful being actively engaging with those.
** Answer1
** It is required to develop and make strong the fedora communities countrywide, it is possible to use FADs (more FADs) for that and later when we have strong communities so we can have FUDCons in various countries with in regions covering most of the parts.
** Increase quality on FAm activities (events, funding, reporting, guidelines, active participation, encourage FAms, more goal oriented..)
