Planet Fedora

In this section, we cover the highlights of Planet Fedora[1] - an aggregation of blogs from Fedora contributors worldwide.

General

Ian MacGregor revisited[1] the Gnome 3 Shell. "I could go on and on about how impressed I am with gnome shell..." Matthias Clasen noted[2] that It IS Coming. "But GNOME consists of well over a hundred modules, so there is naturally a lot of work left. There are a number of things where you can help."

On the design front, Máirín Duffy discuessed[3] the importance of "an open and inclusive process" to the Design Team. "We want folks to use open formats and collaborate in an open way, using open source tools, sharing sources and working together rather than in competition. An ongoing goal for the team is to get greater community participation in creating artwork for Fedora." Máirín also announced[4] the Fedora Design Team Bi-weekly Bounty. "Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to polish up the design and layout of the Fedora 13 Feature Profiles print document."

Mel Chua looked[5] back at the history of the Fedora and Sugar on a Stick releases to figure out where the project could go in the future.

Martin Sourada decided[6] to use the Midori Webkit-based web browser. "So here're some highlights of what you can get with the latest and greatest stuff that's in Fedora 12 (and a bit of customizing)..."

Jesus Rodriguez explained[7] how to (and how not to) move a large volume of data from one system to another by physically removing one drive from an madadm RAID-1 array and putting it into another system.

Mohammed Morsi announced[8] the release of "a Fedora 12 based appliance complete w/ a stack of rpms built against and related to Ruby 1.9.1."
