Networked Game in the vein of Move/Puzzle Bobble! Finally a networked multiplayer game in the vein of the puzzle classic Bust a Move/Puzzle Bobble. Beat your friends in this addictive game, or play against a random opponent! The purpose of this game is to shoot colored orbs into your playfield, so they form groups of three or more. You win if you manage to remove all orbs. You lose if any orb attaches below the white line.

Installing and Running

Pengupop is available under the Fedora Extras Community repository, and can be installed using the yum tool. To install, either use a front-end tool (like yumex) or issue the following command in a terminal as root:

yum install pengupop

This will grab the game and all its dependencies from the Internet, so you need to be connected to the Internet. After installing, you can run the program under the menu:

Applications -> Games -> Arcade -> Pengupop

Or press ALT+F2 on your desktop (or go to a terminal like gnome-terminal and konsole), type pengupop, and press Enter.

Gameplay

Pengupop can only be played on network, over the Internet. When you run the game, your options are simple: you can play against a random opponent that selecting Join Random Game, or Start/Join a named game (you choose what name). The game connects automatically to a server and present you with these options.

The purpose of this game is to shoot colored orbs into your playfield, so they form groups of three or more for the same color. You win if you manage to remove all orbs. You lose if any orb attaches below the white line. Try to clear your field fast, or the other player will clear first and win. You can make the job harder for your opponent: if you form orb groups and there are orbs attached below them (and only on them), they'll drop too and will be sent to the opponent's field.

Game Controls

The keyboard's arrow keys move the direction of your orb, and space fires it. These are the keyboard keys:

• SPACE - Shoot the orb
• F - Toggle fullscreen mode on/off
• ESC - End/Quit Game

Tips

• Try to get many orbs attached to only two orbs with the same color and then shoot another (with the same color) in them, forming a group. This will send the other orbs that got dropped to the opponent's field. But be careful to not put orbs near the crossline!
