Notes:

  • Auto - Is the disk automatically detected and configured by the installer
  • PATA - Parallel ATA (also known as IDE)
  • SATA - Serial ATA
  • In Kernel - the driver is not compiled as a module
  • All speeds in comments are from 'hdparm -t' results, may need '/etc/sysconfig/harddisks' tweaking to get, tested in single user mode. This depends on the chipset used, so your results may vary
