These ideas are in order of difficulty to implement.
Wikipedia article enhancement
Take an article in Wikipedia and enhance it:
- Research and add new content.
- Edit and enhance the writing.
- Add content to a stub (incomplete) article.
- Add additional references to articles.
Wikipedia article series enhancements
- A group or class takes a larger task of filling the ideas in #Wikipedia article enhancement, but applied to a set of articles.
Wikipedia sense of ownership
- Create one or a set of new content pages, including research, references, free media sourcing, etc.
Translate to simple.wikipedia.org
- Convert one or a set of general Wikipedia articles to the Simple English Wikipedia.
Work in a niche, focused, or more authoritative wiki
- OpenWetWare for sharing of biology information, for example.
- Open Notebook Science to discover new science work underway that can be interacted with.
Use an open source tool made for kids and report back to the maker
- Use Tux Paint for individual or group activities, send an email to Bill Kendrick explaining what you did and how well the program worked for you.
- Use [ Audacity] to record and edit multi-track sound, search for help on using the software, such as tutorials. What would a tutorial aimed at young students look like? Could the class write that?
Sugar 4th grade maths testing
- Use Sugar on a Stick to boot a working Sugar instance, then test the 4th grade maths activities.
