Description

KDE upstream features a battery applet.

Setup

A laptop with an internal or external battery serving as power supply

How to test

  1. Boot to KDE Plasma Desktop, the battery applet icon appears in the system tray
  2. Check whether the applet correctly reflects the current system status (on AC / on battery)
  3. When on battery, verify the percentage and remaining time correspond with the output of upower --dump
  4. Try to change the display brightness using the popup's slider and/or using the keyboard shortcuts
  5. Ensure that the profile and brightness are correctly switched back and forth when going between AC and battery power

Expected Results

  1. The applet correctly display current status, percentage and remaining time of the battery
  2. It reacts to and accordingly represents the display brightness
  3. The configured power saving profiles are correctly switched when changing the system's power supply
