Description

KDE upstream features a device notifier applet.

Setup

A PC with a storage drive (optical, external HDD, USB thumbdrive, etc.)

How to test

  1. Boot to KDE Plasma Desktop, the device notifier applet icon appears in the system tray when a media is inserted into the drive
  2. Check whether the applet appears and notifies you when a new media gets inserted
  3. Ensure the media gets correctly mounted, unmounted or ejected in case of an optical disc
  4. (optional) Try accessing an encrypted USB disk/thumbdrive, the applet should ask for the password prior to mounting

Expected Results

  1. The applet correctly identifies the removable device and displays it
  2. It successfully mounts, unmounts and/or ejects the drive
