Community Development: Issue Tracker

Community Contact

GregDeKoenigsberg is the community contact for Issue Tracker.

Developer Contact

Mike Amburn (mamburn redhat com) is the developer contact for Issue Tracker.

Overview

Issue Tracker is the internal ticket tracking system used by Red Hat's Global Support Services team (GSS) to handle customer tickets.

It was open sourced back in the day, but then we forked internally, and abandoned the "upstream" version on sourceforge. The sourceforge version is still available .

Mike Amburn is currently working on a new version, and the hope is that we will be able to open source this new version *and* keep a real upstream this time.

There are customers who might be willing to help in this effort. More on that as we proceed.

Update: 4/7/2008

So Mike is basically rewriting a bunch of code and racing to get a usable version out within the next month. We've also had some interest from one of our large customers about the workings of Issue Tracker, and the possibility of using Issue Tracker to solve some of their problems. Mike has agreed to start a conversation with the aforementioned large customer. The hope is that when Mike is ready to drop the code, we've got some people who are interested in taking it for a spin right out of the gate.
