YaakovNemoy met Yuen at the eth0 lanparty in 2008. Yuen is a long time Red Hat user, and still maintains a few classic RHL boxes. Yuen is an advocate and lobbyist for open standards and software for Amsterdam and surrounding areas.

Talking Points

YaakovNemoy spoke to him about the Fedora University tour. He may be willing to help us get the contacts we need to start doing this in Europe as well.

There are three good approaches to getting Open Source in schools.

  1. Put it in elementary schools. Kids will just grow up with the technology
  2. Linux is seen by teenagers currently as something that is antiestablishment. This sentiment has gotten many kids to try it out.
  3. Linux is used by various universities as an option for getting school work done. The standard Fedora University logic should apply here.
