Seneca College is a small Canadian college with large open source ambitions.

We were originally introduced by Chris Blizzard, formerly of Red Hat and now of the Mozilla Corporation. At the time of our introduction, Mozilla was working closely with Seneca to help Seneca students become more directly involved with open source software development.

Our contact at Seneca, ChrisTyler, is also a member of the broader Fedora community. We are working on a grant to allow Chris to spend time integrating students in his classes (open source programming, Linux systems administration) directly into the Fedora Project. The goals are (a) to increase the number of students participating directly in open source, (b) to nurture open source software curriculum, (c) to identify potential new hires, and (d) to serve as a pathfinder for other such efforts in the future.

The grant deal is pending approval of the CFO. More information forthcoming.
