Background

I am a VP of IT at a correspondent bank (a bank for banks) in the mid-west and an exclusive Linux user for 8 years. As a provider of services to nearly 700 community banks in 4 states I have a unique position to highlight both Fedora and open source in general to a significant group of decision making IT professionals.

Although not a member of the Wisconsin Bankers Association IT board, I have been called upon them to present at the annual tech conference and run break out groups on the benefits and pitfalls of open source, FDIC and Federal Reserve issues regarding open source, and open source security. Throughout the community I am sought out to debunk or support the technologies being offered at the conference.

Fedora is only 16% of our infrastructure but preforms 90% of the critical operations. I create custom RPM packages to deploy our internal configuration to servers allowing us to build a Fedora system from netboot to completed install in about 15 min.

Community Involvement

I haven't' been actively involved in the community past face to face discussions with other professionals. I hope to become a Fedora Ambassador and possibly work on the documentation team. I have been using Fedora since Core 2.
