A page of the Fonts Special Interest Group

Foreword
  • Frames that use this style are redaction tips. Please remove them from your page once they are no longer necessary. Do the same for the lorem ipsum bits.
  • Remember the more complete and accurate the information you add is, the more likely a font is to be packaged and widely used.
  • Do not forget to update the page categorization once the font status changes.

A free alternative to Comic Sans

Packager
Correct the proposal and replace it with the final package summary.

Description

Hannes von Döhren created this font to be a much hipper, serifed replacement to the universally dreaded Comic Sans. It's a hip font good for titling and creative treatments, such as lettering in comic strips.

Caveats

  1. There is a bit of confusion about the license of the font; there seem to

be contradicting license statements:

    1. http://www.fontsquirrel.com/license/HVD-Comic-Serif-Pro indicates

personal and commercial use is fine, but redistribution and modification is not;

    1. http://www.typographyserved.com/Gallery/HVD-Comic-Serif-Pro-%

28Freefont%29/167205# indicates Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial, which means commercial usage is NOT allowed (conflicting with the earlier license statement) and also indicates redistribution is fine;

  1. I contacted Hannes today to see if he would be open to having a more generous license so we could include the font. --Duffy 22:43, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
  2. If it works the other fonts on this page are open to packaging.
  3. If it does not this page needs to be moved to the rejected fonts category.

Take care of those items and remove them from the page once they've been dealt with.
