Activities within Fedora

  • I recently started an open learning initiative in my community to introduce people to free and open online courses. I noticed many members had pirated software installed on their devices so I feel the next step for me would be to introduce them to free and open source software. I might not be able to put a stop to piracy but atleast providing an alternative is what I believe to be a great start. At the root of that tree is the operating system and I've chosen Fedora. I've heard that Fedora Ambassadors are assigned a mentor and that would be quite helpful to me in knowing how to go about informing the public about Fedora as well distributing it in my community.
  • I have noticed that the Afrikaans translation is quite neglected so I would love to work on translating Fedora into Afrikaans.

Also, there are two teams listed on Transifex: af and af_ZA. I don't understand why a differentiation is needed between Afrikaans and South African Afrikaans when it's only spoken in South Africa, af should be sufficient. I will need to find out who to contact regarding this issue so I'm just posting this here as a reminder to myself.
