Daniel VanStone

Born in Illinois raised in Texas. I had my first experience with computers when I helped my middle school principal set up and program
their first computer. I remember it had several binders I had to read. As I recall it took us weeks to set it up correctly.

I did not own my own computer till after Windows 98 was released and even then I only used it for studies.

I have worked with several factories helping them to automate their processes and computer systems. Working with different devices
used for many different uses. I would say that PLC's were my specialty but I really like the general engineering side of it also.

I have worked in several industries from being the grunt behind the scenes to the guy who gives the 'Go or NoGo' in the office and I have
learned many things but the main tool that I that I use most is knowing the way to say Thank You acknowledging the work the each person
gives to achieve a larger goal. It is often that I can learn what the missing ingredient is or a new method by speaking to the grunt workers.

Currently I do system maintenance and repairs. I also like to take old ugly computer boxes and modify them and bring them to life...Again

Activities within Fedora

I like to talk with people and I like to share my knowledge. With the help of Fedora and Technology I want to educate others.
  • I use IRC freenode regularly in #fedora #fedora-ambassadors
  • I encourage others to use fedora
  • I assist and train groups and users
  • I organize events (try my BBQ)
  • I build custom systems which run fedora
