Artwork ArtTeamProjects WikiDesign ArtTeamN1.png

Are you the administrator of a Fedora web app but need some icons or a nice template to spruce it up? Think you need to improve the usability of your application but you're not sure how? Do you want to run a marketing campaign on the Fedora wiki but need some graphical banners?

Basically, if you need any computer graphics relating to Fedora, or need some design help making your application usable, drop a request here!

How to use the service

For users

Add a new entry in the ""Request list"" below, specify the type of graphic you need and any details (e.g., date/time/place for an event poster, URL for a usability review, etc.), and contact info (email and irc are good) so an artist/designer can get in contact with you if there's any information they need to create the design. Please add changes to the top of the list of "Request List"

Watch the page to see when is taken/completed. If it doesn't seem like anyone is picking it up, forward your request to fedora-art-list@redhat.com.

For Fedora Art contributors

When you start working on a new design change the status to reflect is taken. When ready, change the status to 'closed'. If any artwork or design you come up with might be generally useful for others, post it here so we can save it as a resource.

Fonts category branding image

Nicolas Mailhot for the Fonts SIG

2008-06-16

Create a branding image for the Fonts category

The Fonts category has just been created after the wiki migration. It needs a branding image (for now it reuses the Fonts SIG image).

Constraints:

  • The form factor must be the same as the new Fonts SIG branding image.
  • The artwork must be different but related to the Fonts SIG branding image.

Fonts SIG branding image

Requester Date Request ArtTeam assignee Status

Nicolas Mailhot for the Fonts SIG

2008-06-16

Refresh the Fonts SIG branding image

With the wiki migration some CSS tricks that were used to prettify the current artwork are no longer possible. The artwork needs to be adapted/changed to compensate. Constraints:

  • The current image can be re-used, or a new one proposed

SIG artwork

  • needs to integrate well with the wiki (rounded or bubble feel)
  • needs to be small enough to be used in embedded sections such as this one. This is not a full-width page header. However the exact form factor and size is left to the appreciation of the designer.

Fonts SIG rotating banner

A (set of) rotating promo banner(s), suitable for insertion on fedoraproject.org main page

  • The aim of this banner or set of banners would be to help recruit fonts packagers. We have a long packaging wishlist, and few people working on it (about half the wishlist was filled in by the art team so by working on this the art team helps itself).
  • Optionally write and decorate the joining page this banner will link to.
  • Can use the current SIG artwork:

SIG artwork or something else entirely.

Something like the KDE 4 Kids theme - but this is way too childish. Does not necessarily need to be a whole desktop theme - at first, a wallpaper would be great. Maybe also two, depending on the target user's age... ideas are welcome :)

Some comments on lajir's proposal (sorry if I sound very harsh): (NicuBuculei 07:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC))

  • the image is very blurry, like it was created as a very large size and then called down, please make it sharper, it's hard to understand;
  • the font is odd, too condensed;
  • the colors are wrong, from the blue background to the fedora logo on the ship's flag;
  • the proposed EPEL logo, on the banner is impossible to read (too blurry). And I don't get its metaphor.

  • I was thinking of maybe a DJ with a fedora t-shirt on, mixing decks with CD's on them. This would provide a link to the revisior project via the concept of remixes / respins.
The following image is an SVG that was uploaded to the openclipartlibrary (hence public domain) that we could use as a basis for this idea.
The artist that uploaded the dj to the openclipart library was AndyFitz.

Graphics for the game starfighter

Requester Date Request ArtTeam assignee Status

2008-09-14

We've recently learned that one of the games we've been shipping uses some non free graphics, for now we've removed this game from Fedora, but we would like to see it return. Thus I wonder if one of you would be willing to create replacement graphics for this game as its quite popular. The game in question is called project starfighter do "yum install starfighter" to give it a try (we cannnot remove packages from released Fedora versions).

The non free graphics which need replacing are:

  • Character Portraits
  • Starfighter (and other spacecraft) images

The graphics in the installed game are all packed in a single .pak file, which requires special tools to open. Click here for a normal tar.gz packaged version of the game resources.

GPScorrelate is an application that allows to add GPS coordinates to JPEG images based on a GPS logfile, that contains timestamps and coordinates. To find the correct coordinates, the timestamp of the image is used to find the matching coordinate from the logfile. I would like to get this package into Fedora, but unluckily it does not have a logo for the application menu.
