== A revision of Chemist ==
As of June 2011, [[user:frixxon|Paul Flo Williams]] is working on a revision of Chemist. While attempting to package Chemist, I (Paul) decided to start from the original SIT file supplied by Cathy, rather than some random conversion on a free font site. After unpacking the original archive, fontlint showed plenty of errors, so I've decided to rework the problematic characters. I think that revising it will take under two months. If this notice is still here in September, then you may wish to ping me.

Calligraphic fonts

Description

Font-chemist.png

Chemist fonts were created by Cathy Davies as a memorial to her father, William Davies, based on his handwriting.

Caveats

  1. Upstream release is Type 1 fonts in a StuffIt archive (.sit); may need to start from a third-party zip such as the one on fontsquirrel. The fonts will need to be converted to OpenType CFF (OTF).
  2. 3 families = 3 subpackages. The archive contains Chemist Regular, Chemist Rough and Chemist Periodic. Chemist Periodic is not a handwriting font.

Additional information

  1. Featured in Tripwiremagazine's 45+ exceptionally useful free handwritten fonts.
  2. Some of the other fonts on Cathy Davies' may have licensing permitting Fedora inclusion.
