== IBus ==
== General Configuration ==
ibus can now provide both keymaps and input methods in the context menu, as we call them as ibus engines, and the we redefine the trigger key, Control + Space, to toggle the previous ibus engine and the next one instead of switching on and of an ibus engine. The new Control + Space would give the similar structure with Macintosh and ibus can show the keymaps and input methods in the same layer not to distinguish them. So we won't provide the status of IM engine off in the new ibus structure.
System locale and keyboard layout settings are configured using the
localectl
utility. Read
man localectl
for instructions on adjusting the system locale.
We also provides a check button to switch back the previous Control Space on ibus-setup for Fedora 16 if you prefer. However we may remove the button in the future and like to gather the broad feedback.

ibus moves the almost trigger keys to each engine's configuration and provides Control + Space only now. E.g. Alt_R would be needed for the Hangul engines only, Zenkaku_hankaku would be needed for the Japanese engines only.
== Input Methods ==
* ibus
** ibus panel icon now shows the prefix of language names instead of layout names in non-GNOME desktop.
** Users' ibus input method engines always run when they log into GNOME desktop so that they switch the engines quickly without waiting for the engine launching time.
** ibus input method engines now are hidden on the lock screen in GNOME desktop.
** ibus implements a special panel icon for KDE5 since KDE5 no longer enable GtkStatusIcon by default.

ibus-gnome3 can now provide the shell-themed icon, menu and IM lookup window instead of gtk-themed status icon. ibus-gnome3 also can show the text icon for each engine instead of image icon. Basically we'd think language ASCII prefixes (e.g. 'us', 'fr', 'de') for keymaps and multi-byte prefixes (e.g. '中', 'あ') for input methods.
* Minglish, a new Marathi language m17n input method is added.
ibus-gnome3 is provided by ibus side for Fedora 16 as the intermitted solution. Our goal is to integrate the same feature in gnome-shell upstream but the current target is the time frame of Fedora 17 due to the development cycle.
See also [[Features/GnomeInputIntegration]].

ibus can now provides XIM feature in both GTK, QT and X11 applications. Currently the default XIM is the US mode and also cedilla mode only if the language is pt-br.

ibus now allows engines to define XKB options. For example, when a user switches to Indic engines provided by ibus-m17n, Alt_R is automatically mapped to AltGr.
eekboard on-screen keyboard can now be activated through IBus, in addition to desktop accessibility. See [https://fedorahosted.org/eekboard/wiki/TabletGuide|setup instruction for tablet PC].

ibus-gucharmap provides new Unicode input method, which supports in-place character-map view, character search based on Unicode names, and easy navigation with various keyboard shortcuts.

* ITB has Tamil support added.
** Tamil typing booster is predictive text input method and supports Tamil-99 and Inscript layout.
