Fedora Extras Steering Committee 21st July 2005

Present:

  • Seth Vidal
  • Matthias Saou
  • Greg DeKoenigsberg
  • Enrico Scholtz
  • Elliot Lee
  • Ville Skytta
  • Thomas Vander Stichele
  • Dams Nade
  • Michael Schwendt
  • Dave Lawrence
  • Colin Charles

Actions:

  • install Plague on boxes in Phoenix (build system). RH IS says no to ports 8886-8889 (Plague talks to the builders on these). Options are to change the ports Plague uses (rather than change how it works which is time consuming). Elliot to see what can be done (in terms of ports to talk to extras64.linux.duke.edu)
  • No discussion ahead on SampleNewPackageProcessDocument
  • Suggest that upstream sign tarballs, skipped for the week, moved to priority #2
  • New package request process - Greg has placed a preliminary document online. Agreement that Greg's process, with a package review page (showing what's failing review or needing review) on the Wiki. And moving to a flags-based UI later won't cause migration issues for Dave, as it uses an XMLRPC interface. Make it clear its just a url/link to the SRPM, rather than attaching it to Bugzilla. We also realise the need for a new list to send new package review requests to
  • So in order, we're going to:

1. Publish new process to wiki 2. Change the templates (in Bugzilla) 3. Advertise the new process

  • Who "officially" reviews on Bugzilla? Reviewer must be contributors (commiters), and if new, reviewer must also be sponsor. We check this via the fedora_contrib Bugzilla group (where its tied in with the accounts system). Anyone however (with a Bugzilla account) can contribute to the discussion
  • fedoraproject.org redesign is done
  • No new sponsors this week. Phenomenal work by Warren at rejecting account applications
  • Build system update - Dan Williams has worked on a potential web interface (http://people.redhat.com/dcbw/febs.png); and there's now instructions as to what the packager needs to do to setup for build requests at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Extras/BuildSystemClientSetup
