FEDORA ANNOUNCEMENTS

Open Xange 2010

A. Paulo Santos announced[1] the availability of Open Xange 2010[2], "a Fedora + KDE base distro, only with Open Source software."

Fedora's LWN subscription

Max Spevack announced to the Fedora community, "I've done my once-every-six-months-or-so cleanup of the Fedora LWN[1] subscription, pruning any accounts that haven't logged into LWN since September 1, 2009.

We've got about 20 subscriptions that we can enable, so if you are a Fedora community member and would like to be able to access LWN's subscriber-only content, please send me an email with your LWN account name, and I'll make it so.

If you're not sure whether or not you are already part of Fedora's group subscription, log into LWN. If it says "Fedora Project group" on the top of the left-hand status bar, you are."

FEDORA DEVELOPMENT NEWS

Outage Notification - 2010-01-13 22:00 UTC

Mike McGrath notified[1] the list: "There will be an outage starting at 2010-01-13 22:00 UTC, which will last approximately 4 hours.

To convert UTC to your local time, take a look at [2] or run:

date -d '2010-01-13 22:00 UTC'

Affected Services:

Fedora Hosted

Unaffected Services:

Buildsystem CVS / Source Control Database DNS Fedora People Fedora Talk Mail Mirror System Torrent Translation Services Websites

Ticket Link [3]

Reason for Outage:

hosted1.fedoraproject.org (the primary fedorahosted host) has been throwing memory errors so we have a ticket open to fix it. There is a 4 hour window for them to work on it though it's not likely to be down that whole time so the actual outage should be much smaller.

Contact Information:

Please join #fedora-admin in irc.freenode.net or respond to this email to track the status of this outage."

%cmake macro usage, dropping -DCMAKE_SKIP_RPATH:BOOL=ON

Rex Dieter informed[1] the list that "If you're the maintainer of a cmake-based package, and use the %cmake macro, be aware I just implemented a change in rawhide (to cmake-2.8.0-2) to drop the usage of -DCMAKE_SKIP_RPATH:BOOL=ON as previously discussed[2].

If you want or need to continue with the old behavior, use %cmake %{?_cmake_skip_rpath}

NOTE: At the time of writing this, kde4 packages that use the %cmake_kde4 macro still use %{_cmake_skip_rpath} by default (at least until we can sort out other rpath-related issues in kde4's buildsystem)."

Outage Notification - Fri Jan 15 10:30:00 UTC

Mike McGrath notified[1] "There will be an outage starting at Fri Jan 15 10:30:00 UTC, which is ongoing.

To convert UTC to your local time, take a look at[2] or run:

date -d 'Fri Jan 15 10:30:00 UTC'

Affected Services:

Fedora People

Unaffected Services:

Buildsystem CVS / Source Control Database DNS Fedora Hosted Fedora Talk Mail Mirror System Torrent Translation Services Websites

Ticket Link[3]

Reason for Outage:

The xen host fedorapeople is on is currently not responding to pings. I've contacted the hosting provider but have not heard back yet. It is unclear when this host will be back online.

Contact Information:

Please join #fedora-admin in irc.freenode.net or respond to this email to track the status of this outage."

f13 boost-1.41.0 upgrade: pushed

Benjamin Kosnik announced[1] that "The boost maintainers have updated the boost package to the current release (1.41.0) in rawhide for F13. More info[2].

Rebuilds for devel packages that require boost are mandatory, as SONAME was bumped. Help from package maintainers with rebuilding packages with boost dependencies is appreciated."

Request for Fedora 13 Feature Page Status Update

John Poelstra requested[1] feature owners update those needing updates.

"Thanks for all the great work you are doing to make Fedora 13 our best release ever.

I just did a quick review of the accepted pages we have so far for Fedora 13 and there are a few that have not been updated since November

2009 or before. I made this determination based on the information in

the "Current Status" section of your feature page.

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/ChangeInImplicitDSOLinking https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/IntelliJ_IDEA https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/NFSClientIPv6 https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/NFSv4Default https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/NouveauDisplayPort https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/RadeonDisplayPort https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/YumLangpackPlugin https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/SystemRollbackWithBtrfs

Would you be so kind as to take a couple of minutes to update your page with with the latest status information so we all have a better idea how your feature is doing?"
