Theming Constantine
New Request System for the Design Team
From FUDCon, after the announcement of the release name for Fedora 12 Nicu Buculei launchedref the talks about the graphic theme of the next release "I am sure you are all already aware, the announcement is official since yesterday when Paul delivered in in front of the FUDCon audience, the release name for Fedora 12 was voted Constantine". He also proposed a possible approach: Byzantine mosaics "When I think about it, I had in my mind Byzantine culture (Roman emperor Constantine the Great) and I think a graphic in the style of a Byzantine mosaic can be an effective approach. The major trick is to leave out any religious implications and stay only with cultural references."
After Frank Murphy asked on @fedora-design about forwarding design requests and inquiries from the users list "Occasionnally, the other lists get Q? re . Fedora provided Image apps\formats. Would it be ok, for me to forward those. Without throwing the teams work-flow" Máirín Duffy pointed to the new created ticket system "I created a new ticket type 'materials for ambassadors' in the design-team trac ticket queue. So please encourage the ambassadors to open up tickets for requests like these". Ian Weller moved all the existing requests from the old wiki page to the new system and also a mailing list was created for notifications about tickets.

Joost Elfering invited everyone to think at the big picture "I think we need to take a step back before coming up with results and examples. i suggest we first take a look at the associations with Constantine. these
<references/>
associations will be the bases for out new style. so no examples, just
conceptual works" and showed concerns about the religious implications "this
theme is really heavily based on religion on it's own. We will probably have
some angry faces just because of the name. keeping out religion on this one
will be really hard!", concerns shared also by Konstantinos Antonakoglou "You can't expect any work of art without a religious reference" who proposed a simple take on that "So, to keep it simple I sense that we should say: 'Hey! Byzantine art used the mosaic art! Let's use it too.'"

Henrik Heigl chimed-in with his own concerns about aggressiveness "The Lion has a bit of an aggressive meaning, Constantine is en emperor (also a bit aggressive) do we want the same way or make something smoother?" and added another couple of ideas to the brainstorming "I also had the Logo of my old University" and "Also I had the the "Lion" we had in Fedora11 in my head and now maybe another animal", with the animal idea ruled-out quickly by Nicu "We can't go with another animal (no, not even a panda :D), that would be to close to the previous release."
A Custom Blog Aggregator
Máirín Duffy raised a call for all the members of the Fedora Design Team owning blogs to submit their data for a blog aggregation, something that was planned for long time "We need to put together a .planet file so Seth can create a planet just for our team. I need your help, though: If you think you should/shouldn't be on this list can you let me know?" and later she figured out everyone can to it by themselves "Take the chunk of the planet config that pertains to your blog, and copy it into a .planet.design file in your home directory on fedorapeople.org". With the help of  Seth Vidal from the Infrastructure Team, the aggregator was put up and running, so those interested in a Fedora Design Team Planet can read it without additional noise.

New Request System for the Design Team

After Frank Murphy asked[1] on @fedora-design about forwarding design requests and inquiries from the users list "Occasionnally, the other lists get Q? re . Fedora provided Image apps\formats. Would it be ok, for me to forward those. Without throwing the teams work-flow" Máirín Duffy pointed[2] to the new created ticket system[3] "I created a new ticket type 'materials for ambassadors' in the design-team trac ticket queue. So please encourage the ambassadors to open up tickets for requests like these". Ian Weller moved[4] all the existing requests from the old wiki page[5] to the new system and also a mailing list was created[6] for notifications about tickets.

A Custom Blog Aggregator

Máirín Duffy raised a call[1] for all the members of the Fedora Design Team owning blogs to submit their data for a blog aggregation, something that was planned for long time "We need to put together a .planet file so Seth can create a planet just for our team. I need your help, though: If you think you should/shouldn't be on this list can you let me know?" and later she figured out[2] everyone can to it by themselves "Take the chunk of the planet config that pertains to your blog, and copy it into a .planet.design file in your home directory on fedorapeople.org". With the help of Seth Vidal from the Infrastructure Team, the aggregator was put up and running[3], so those interested in a Fedora Design Team Planet[4] can read it without additional noise.
