This channel is not moderated for language. If you are easily offended by strong language, beware.

Background

The fedora-social channel is a place for Fedora community members to relax and talk about most any topics they wish (see below for exceptions). Note that sometimes discussion in the channel will contain strong language and ribald jokes. Favorite topics include bacon (see below), youtube videos people enjoy, or other topical links or quizzes.

Support Questions

fedora-social is a social channel, not a support channel. Please don't ask support related questions here, instead use the approprate support channel for your question.

For some reason, bacon and bacon related discussions are very popular in this channel.

Freenode Guidelines Apply

The standard Freenode guidelines apply in this channel. Please avoid off topic items.

You may be removed from the channel if you don't follow this policy.

Complaints About Other Channels

The fedora-social channel is not a place to complain about behavior or issues from other channels. Joining #fedora-social to complain about your ban or quieting in #fedora may result in you being banned from both channels. Please take those complaints up in the appropriate forum https://fedorahosted.org/irc-support-sig is a perfect place for complaints or general feedback.

Ban Removal or Appeal

If you have been banned from #fedora-social and wish to appeal the ban or request a removal of a ban please use https://fedorahosted.org/irc-support-sig to appeal your case. Tickets are reviewed on a weekly basis at each IRC Sig meeting. Meetings are currently held on Thursdays at 12:00PM (UTC) in the #fedora-meeting channel. Please do not private message an op and ask them to remove the ban. All are welcome to participate in our weekly meetings.

Note: evading a ban by changing your nick or your hostmask is not advised. It may increase the period of the ban and ruin your chances of appeal.
