The mission of the Haskell Special Interest Group is to maintain, grow, and guide the packaging of Haskell projects in Fedora.

Mission
Communication
To encourage, grow and guide the packaging of Haskell projects in Fedora.
Mailing lists
We have two mailing-lists:

Communication
* haskell (archives) for general discussion
Mailing list
* haskell-devel (archives) for bugzilla traffic.
We have a mailing-list fedora-haskell-list (archives ), since 13 Feb 2008.

IRC
IRC
Currently we do not have an independent IRC channel.
We have an #fedora-haskell channel on freenode.net .
Some members may be found on #fedora-devel or #haskell on Freenode.

Updates
Follow us on Twitter.

Tasks
Haskell Platform support
* Complete and submit the current revised draft packaging guidelines for haddock documentation handling, etc
* F20 has haskell-platform-2013.2.0.0 with ghc-7.6.3
* Submit various commonly used libraries for Package Review
* F19 has haskell-platform-2012.4.0.0 with ghc-7.4.2
* srpm packages for DrIFT, X11, c2hs, cpphs, fps, hs-plugins, hscolour, hsh, hslogger, missingh, vty, wxhaskell, xmobar, xmonad at unsubmitted srpm packages are some good starting candidates
* EPEL7 Beta has ghc-7.6.3
* update Bryan's cabal-rpm to generate .spec that follow our Packaging Guidelines
* EPEL6 has haskell-platform-2011.4.0.0 and ghc-7.0.4
* bootstrap ghc on ppc64 (bug 239713 ) and ia64
* EPEL5 has ghc-7.0.4
* build ghc for EPEL

Packaging
Please see the Haskell Platform page for more information about Fedora's Haskell Platform support.
We have the Haskell Packaging Guidelines in place with template .spec files for libraries and programs. Please use them when submitting Haskell packages for review. There is a script
cabal2spec
included in the Fedora ghc package which generates initial compliant .spec files from cabal packages.
Detailed package information can be found on the Fedora Packages page.

* New packages (not starting with
ghc-*
) need to be added to Upstream_release_monitoring. (Note that packages in haskell-platform are intentionally not listed to avoid accidental breakage.)

I'm tinkering with cabal-rpm to make sure it can create *good* Fedora packages for most cabal files. I'm using zlib as a test spec in the review process to get a feel for the little nuances that cabal-rpm has to work out. - YaakovNemoy
