SCIM

SCIM (Smart Common Input Method) is an free open source project Input Method platform for the input of Asian and other languages.

SCIM is the current default Input Method for:

  • Indic scripts:

Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sinhalese, Tamil, Telugu

  • Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.

How to Install

  • During Installation

Select the language support you need in the Languages package group in the installer. (If you only require support for the language in which you are installing you do not need to do this addition step.)

  • Post Installation

Use pirut to install the language support you require from the Languages package group.
