These are the Talking Points for Fedora 13 KDE Desktop Edition. For information on how these talking points were chosen, see Talking Points SOP. They are intended to help Ambassadors quickly present an overview of highlighted features when talking about the release. In this case, the feature page is not the Fedora Features, but Upstream KDE's Feature list .

Nepomuk Semantic Desktop

Dolphin's integration of desktop search makes use of this Nepomuk's semantic framework to aid the user in locating and organizing his data. The new timeline view shows recently used files organized chronologically.

Plasma Netbook Tech Preview

Plasma Netbook provides a new user interface for KDE designed for small formfactor devices such as netbooks. It includes a new Desktop shell with a full screen application launcher and search and a new Newspaper Plasma desktop layout.

Social Desktop Integration

KDE SC's integration with the OpenDesktop.org Open Collaboration Services API allows users to download and upload content to OpenDesktop.org sites like kde-look.org. Through Plasma Desktop's Community, Knowledge Base and Social News applets.

The Social Desktop technology introduced in the previous release has been improved with a central identity management and introduces libattica as a transparent web-service access library

KAuth backend

KAuth provides secure authentication and related user interface elements to developers who want to run tasks with elevated privileges. On Linux, KAuth uses PolicyKit as a backend, providing seamless cross-desktop integration. The PolicyKit backend was developed primarily by Fedora KDE Desktop Team members Radek Novacek, Jaroslav Reznik and Lukas Tinkl.
