License Notes

This license is usually only found in "configure" files. It is an extremely permissive license, Free and GPL-Compatible. Since it is usually only found in "configure" files, packagers should be sure to only include this License tag if the binary package contains code under this license. This is not usually the case, however, if it is, please use "FSFUL" as the License shortname.

License Text

# This configure script is free software; the Free Software Foundation
# gives unlimited permission to copy, distribute and modify it.

License Retention Variant

This is a variant of the above license, functionally identical except that it explicitly requires that the license text and copyright statement be retained as-is (unmodified). This additional restriction seems to have been done to clear up ambiguity around whether the "unlimited permission" to modify the file includes a permission to modify the license terms as well.

This license is Free and GPL-Compatible.

Like the FSF Unlimited License it is derived from, it is usually only found in "configure" files, so packagers should be sure to only include this License tag if the binary package contains code under this license. This is not usually the case, however, if it is, please use "FSFULLR" as the License shortname for this variant.
