FUDCon: Fedora Users and Developers Conference

FUD: An acronym for Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. A typical tactic used by the opponents of open source to prevent its widespread adoption.

Con: In opposition or disagreement with; against.

FUDCon is the Fedora Users and Developers Conference. FUDCon is a major free and open source software event. FUDCon happens more than once a year and in several places in the world. FUDCon is a combination of sessions, talks, workshops, and hackfests in which contributors work on specific initiatives. Topics include infrastructure, feature development, community building, general management and governance, marketing, testing and QA, packaging, etc.

FUDCon is always free to attend for anyone in the world.

Components of a FUDCon

A FUDCon typically includes some combination of:

  • A barcamp-style conference
    • General audience
    • Influence the schedule, vote!
    • Maximise your conference/satisfaction rate
  • A FUDPub social evening
    • General audience
    • Get in touch with your colleagues
    • Have fun and good geek talks
    • Face2face experience with the person you where talking for months
  • A Packaging fest
    • Leaded by packagers team members
    • Bring the foss, spec it with us, push it to Fedora
    • Become a packager or relay the package to a local Fedora packager
    • External contributors are welcome
    • Developers pushing their local sw are welcome
