FUDCon: Fedora Users and Developers Conference

FUD: An acronym for Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. A typical tactic used by the opponents of open source to prevent its widespread adoption.

Con: In opposition or disagreement with; against.

FUDCon is the Fedora Users and Developers Conference. FUDCon is a major free and open source event. FUDCon is a combination of sessions, talks, workshops, and hackfests in which contributors work on specific initiatives. Topics include infrastructure, feature development, community building, general management and governance, marketing, testing and QA, packaging, etc.

FUDCon is always free to attend for anyone in the world.

Components of a FUDCon

A FUDCon typically includes some combination of:

• A barcamp-style conference < general audience
• A FUDPub social evening < general audience
• A hackfest < implies actual Fedora contributors
  • A bug-triage-fest (testers-developer teaming)
• A Package fest, bring the foss, spec it with us, push it (packagers team, not necesarilly implies current Fedora contributors)
  • monkey httpd server case
  • other distros pkgs not available yet in Fedora
• A set of Coding Dojos (developing team) < not necesarilly implies current Fedora contributors
• A FUDCon installfest area, bring your PC, get Fedora in it (fedora ambassadors) < newcomers to Fedora
• A Fedora first experience lab area, test drive Fedora (fedora ambassadors team) < newcomers to Fedora
