What you need to know

What is an event?

For the purpose of this page, an event is any internal (Fedora contributors), external (collaborations, partners, neighbor communities), or a mix of both internal/external gathering of people that takes place in person.

This is for all Fedora related events regardless of size, location/region, audience (internal, external), or type {Fedora hosted events or third party events}.

How will Mindshare evaluate what events to fund?

This is the part that is ever-changing. As we have witnessed, Covid seems to spread, and then we suppress it some, and then evolves and spreads again. Hopefully we will soon see developments that can neutralize Covid, or significantly decrease the severity. Until that time, we have to remain flexible.

This means evaluating event funding requests on a case-by-case basis for some time. It is also important to note here that although the Fedora Project works independently in many ways, we are also directly sponsored by Red Hat. Therefore we are bound by the same laws, regulations, and issue of liability that apply to Red Hat.

In order for the Mindshare Committee to make a decision about event related funding post-Covid there are a couple pieces of information that will be required along with usual info. Please submit this information when opening an event related ticket on the Mindshare Committee repo. See below for details.

1. Event website

2. Specific event related Covid guidance

3. Approximate number of attendees

4. Country where event is taking place

5. Will your travel to/from the event bring you across a Country border?

6. Local official Covid guidance

Safety requirements

- Fedorans must wear mask when attending or engaging at events.

- Fedorans attending an event in the Unites States and Canada must be fully vaccinated.

- Fedorans organizing an event in the United States or Canada must require vaccinations and mask wearing at the event.

- Fedorans must adhere to third party or venue additional safety measures that are required at a site/event.

- Fedorans should understand and follow local government Covid-19 safety requirements.

- Events should have Covid safety guidelines in place such as:

  - Personal safety: PPE use, preventative testing, contract tracing
  - Enhanced cleaning: disinfection requirements, maintenance guidelines
  - Social density: physical distancing rules, attendee flow, max capacity, registration protocols
  - Entrance controls: queuing protocols, sanitization availability, masks, testing, contact tracing, thermometers
  - On-site services and management: isolation areas, masks, hand sanitizer, waste bin, medical and cleaning staff

You assume any and all risk, whatsoever, related to any Fedora or Fedora-related event, and release and discharge Fedora, their sponsors, and their agents from any liability to the fullest extent allowed by the law.
