Description

This test case describes the scenario of temporarily closing the lid

How to test

  1. Use your computer normally, unplugged (most likely a laptop in this scenario)
  2. Close the lid to go to another room (this scenario is about closing the lid temporarily, ie for 30 to 90 seconds)
  3. Open the lid again

Expected Results

What is reasonable?
Note that we ask for you to judge whether the system behaviour is 'reasonable' or not, without prescribing the exact outcome. If some aspect of the system behaviour is surprising or confusing to you, it is probably worth pointing out.
  • Reasonable behaviours might be:
    1. The laptop should suspend when you close the lid. Always. Otherwise you risk frying your laptop when you close it and stow it away
    2. The laptop should resume when you open the lid, quickly and smoothly.
    3. NetworkManager should reestablish a network connection. Applications that had a network connection should tolerate a brief interruption and continue.
  • Unreasonable behaviours would include:
    1. Not suspending when the lid is closed
    2. Not resuming when the lid is opened
    3. Resuming and immediately shutting down
    4. Slow and flickery resume
    5. Applications that crash after resume
