In order to obtain properly-licensed copies of these Fedora logos, you must send a request to the logo queue at logo@fedoraproject.org. Please include a brief description of the way(s) you plan on using the logo. Also please be patient as this queue is run by a human being.

Fedora

About

The Fedora logo symbolizes the Fedora Project and all that it does — the operating system as well as the community that creates it.

Guidelines

Usage of the Fedora logo must follow the common guidelines listed on this page.

If you must use only one color, use the word design logo. Do not use the infinity logo. The logotype should be clearly distinguishable from the background color. Honor the Fedora logo palette when possible, using black or white if necessary.

Permitted logo variants

Common guidelines

These logos are used for many purposes across many different designs, including software applications, web sites, T-shirts, event booth tablecloths and banners, and other printed material. While it may seem as if your change to the logo is minor, the impact of such changes is much more widespread than you might initially think. We seek to have a consistent and identifiable logo that is taken seriously in order to help us fulfil Fedora's mission of leading the advancement of free and open source software and content. Some of our logos are trademarked, and changes made to those logos have serious implications. Please understand the importance of these guidelines.

Trademark Symbol

The 'TM' trademark symbol must always be visible and readable for both the Fedora logomark (infinity symbol) and the Fedora logotype ('fedora' text) in the placements shown in these guidelines. You may not remove or obfuscate either of the TM symbols in the Fedora logo.

Clear space

Our logos need breathing room! We have defined an 'X' height for each of our logos. See the section of this document that applies to the logo you are working with above to determine the X-height for the logo you are working with.

We require at minimum 1/2 of this X-height around any of the Fedora logos. See how this applies to the main Fedora logo itself, as an example, below:

File:Logo UsageGuidelines logotypeclearspace.png

Do not adjust any of the logos

Don't search for the logos on a search engine and use what you find. There are many unofficial variations on the Fedora logos that are not authorized, are unofficial, and do not respect these guidelines. Please do not use them.

When you follow the instructions on obtaining and obtain the logos, please use the SVG files provided there to create the logos you need. If there is any information in the logo you are working with that needs to be filled in (for example, the 'LOCATION' for a particular FUDcon) please fill it in using the text field in the provided SVG with the correct fonts installed. Instructions on how to use the SVG files are provided further down this page.

If you feel you need to adjust the logos for a particular context not addressed by these guidelines, please discuss this with the Fedora design team at design-team@lists.fedoraproject.org.

Never Switch the Colors

Please don't switch the colors of the logos provided beyond the acceptable color schemes outlined in these guidelines. If you have some special need for a color change that these guidelines do not address, please notify the Fedora design team at design-team@lists.fedoraproject.org.

File:Logo UsageGuidelines logocolorswitch.png

Never Use the Logo on Similarly-Colored Backgrounds

Never use the logo on similarly-colored backgrounds, unless the color is Fedora blue (the lighter one) and the logotype is white.

File:Logo UsageGuidelines logobgcolor.png

File:Logo UsageGuidelines logorearrange.png

Never Stray from the Color Palette

File:Logo UsageGuidelines logobadpalette.png

File:Logo UsageGuidelines logodistort.png

Don't attempt to replicate the logos

Please follow the instructions provided here on obtaining the logos and use the SVG files provided to create the logos you need. If there is any information in the logo you are working with that needs to be filled in (for example, the 'LOCATION' for a particular FUDcon) please fill it in using the text field in the provided SVG with the correct fonts installed. Instructions on how to use the SVG files are provided further down this page.

Do not attempt to redraw the logos or otherwise recreate them. This could result in unauthorized logo variations.

Fonts

Note.png
Fonts may be in flux
Follow along on the design-team list. This is mainly a note for Ian so that he can remember to reach a consensus before pushing.

We recommend the following complementary fonts to use along with the logos. Both recommended fonts are openly licensed and freely distributable. Do not use Bryant2, the typeface used in the logotype. It is non-free and cannot be distributed with Fedora.

Comfortaa

We recommend using Comfortaa as a titling / headline font. Comfortaa may be installed from the Fedora repositories. It can be found in the aajohan-comfortaa-fonts package.

Comfortaa font sample

Cantarell

We recommend using Cantarell as a text / copy font. Cantarell may be installed from the Fedora repositories.
