Revision as of 18:14, 1 July 2009

Here are some proposed changes to create the Fedora Business Card layout 2.1. 2.0 (the current version) will be deprecated, but nobody will kill you if you still have 2.0 cards (the differences are small).

Fonts

The font for the editable text shall be changed to Liberation Sans (Bold for the name).

  • This is brought on by concerns that some names can not be printed in MgOpen Moderna (the current font) because it is missing a ton of necessary glyphs for names like Máirín.
  • Font sizes will stay the same.

Telephone number: international format

It has been requested by Till Maas to use an international format (i.e., +1 919 424-0063).

Telephone number: Fedora Talk extension

Replace "x" to symbolize the Fedora Talk extension with "ext." for readability.

Against

--Duffy 17:49, 1 July 2009 (UTC) i've never seen 'ext' on a biz card before, x is pretty clear

The GPG fingerprint/key debate

Add an additional "optional backside" to the card that is white and contains only the cardholder's name, their GPG key ID, and their GPG fingerprint.

  • When using this option, the GPG key ID will be removed from the front of the card. It will remain if the option is not used.
  • A lot of people have requested that their full fingerprint be printed on the card, but it won't fit on the front. We hope this can help resolve that problem.

Against

-- lcafiero 17:32, 1 July 2009 (UTC). I don't understand how having a full fingerprint on a business card is beneficial or necessary.
--Duffy 17:48, 1 July 2009 (UTC) i dont think the full fingerprint is ever necessary. better to keep the back of the card clean for notetaking which is what many people use them for

Translatable foundations

Make the "freedom friends features first" text translatable into other languages.

For

This is not something I would use personally, but seems like it would be nice for those whose native language is not english --Nb 16:44, 1 July 2009 (UTC).
I would suggest to get hold on official translations --YN1V 17:51, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
