== About Me ==
Hello, I'm Justin, and I'm a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I am majoring in Networking & Systems Administration and intend to graduate in 2019. I started using Linux (and Fedora) in December 2013 - Fedora 20 was my first Linux distribution. Growing up with Apple hardware, I slowly made the transition from OS X to Linux, and now proudly run all of my devices with Linux-based operating systems. I am extremely passionate about free and open-source software and I try to champion it anywhere I can. As part of my time at RIT, I plan to pursue the [http://magic.rit.edu/foss/ FOSS Minor] as part of my degree.

I'm generally idling somewhere on IRC around the clock, so if you see me, feel free to ping me and say hi!

I'm currently an undergraduate student at [https://www.rit.edu/ Rochester Institute of Technology], majoring in [http://nsa.rit.edu/ Networking and Systems Administration] and minoring in [http://foss.rit.edu Free and Open Source Software]. I am passionate about free and open source software, which is why I love one of Fedora's four foundations: ''Freedom''.

Being involved with Fedora has always interested me, and I try to get involved where I can. I sometimes assist with wiki cleaning and package tagging, but most of my contributions to the Project are serving as a contributor and editor for the [https://fedoramagazine.org/author/jflory7/ Fedora Magazine], a regular contributor to the [https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/author/jflory7/ Fedora Community Blog], and an occasional blog post of my own for [http://blog.justinwflory.com/ Fedora Planet]. Additionally, I am a founding member of the Community Operations ([[CommOps]]) team and I am actively working with them on the latest and greatest for Fedora.

I am in the process of becoming an Ambassador in the near future.

In addition to working on Fedora, I also manage my own Minecraft server network called [https://crystalcraftmc.com CrystalCraftMC]. I have been running CrystalCraftMC for over three years and spend a lot of time working on adding new features, games, or other fun things to my server for my small community of players. Through my own experiences with running my server, I was introduced to the world of Linux (and subsequently, Fedora)! Elsewhere on the Internet, I am a community moderator for [https://www.spigotmc.org/ SpigotMC], a free and open-source Minecraft server software. I've been a user there since 2013 and a moderator since early 2014, and I have a large span of knowledge surrounding the Minecraft community as a whole.

At my university, I participate in [http://nexthop.network/ NextHop] (networking club) and [https://ritlug.github.io/ RITlug] (RIT Linux Users Group), amongst other things. I'm also a coffee fanatic as I am a former barista, and given the proper time and equipment, I pride myself on being able to make a killer cup of coffee. Activities in Fedora

Current contributions

I always wanted to get involved with Fedora, so I finally took the leap some years ago. Most of my contributions today are as a(n)…

I also write an occasional blog post of my own for Fedora Planet.

Past contributions

I've spent a lot of time in some other areas of Fedora too. You can see some of the past areas / roles I've contributed in the past below.

Activities outside Fedora

I've managed my own Minecraft server, CrystalCraftMC for the past five years. I am a former staff member of SpigotMC, a free and open source Minecraft server software. Before Fedora, I mostly worked in the Minecraft open source community.

At my university, I am the 2016-2018 president of the RIT Linux Users Group. I am involved with the FOSS@MAGIC academic community by helping promote open source across my university. I'm also a member of the RIT Women in Computing program.

Outside of the US, I'm also a remote member of the Open Labs Hackerspace, a non-profit community hackerspace in Tirana, Albania promoting free and open source projects.

I'm also a coffee fanatic and a former barista. I support Direct Trade Coffee!

Scratchpad

I have a loose scratchpad of ideas, thoughts, or concepts that I need a place to put them, but don't belong anywhere specific. All of my ideas on my scratchpad are related to Fedora in some way - perhaps you may find some of them useful! Feel free to read through my pad.
