Hello, I am Julian Aloofi from Germany. As I am not very advanced in programming yet, I try to help the Fedora-Project with translating User Interfaces or package descriptions. I am still in school but I am sure that I know English well enough to translate everything to my mother tongue.
I think that I will add various things to this page earlier or later, but now I try to get started with translating...

== How I came to Fedora ==

After testing many distributions for about two years I finally decided to stay with Fedora. I started with Ubuntu as many did. But soon I wanted to try something more. I gave Debian a try. I was able to use much of the things I already knew from Ubuntu and liked especially the package managing system. But after my first system crash (I lost all my data, but I think with the knowledge I have now I could have managed to rescue it...) I decided to change. I used Debian unstable because I didn't like the old packages in stable but also didn't want to have testing because it also hadn't the latest software. So I decided to go to OpenSUSE. This was completely new to me and I first got in touch with non-OSS-software on a GNU/Linux system. It installed RealPlayer and Flash as default. When I noticed this, I quickly changed back to Debian (this time testing). Half and a year of Linux has passed til now. Well, then I bought a new computer. A notebook, to be more precisely. I got a lot of incompatibility problems. For example my wireless card. I thought an Atheros card would be safe, but I got the Ar5007EG. Then I got to know about Fedora on Distrowatch. I gave the LiveCD a try and fastly began to like it. It was completely FOSS, SELinux worked without problems and it hadn't these thousands of not-needed programs pre-installed(ever counted the number of programs Debian testing with KDE installs?)
So, about one week ago I enabled the Rawhide repository and downloaded the kernel 2.6.27. It finally supported my wireless card. I disabled Rawhide after this and now I'm totally confident with my system(last time this happened I used Windows 98 ;))
