Background
I knew about GNU/Linux operating system and Fedora was the fist OS that I was working on two years ago. I love using GNU/Linux OS for several reasons. Fist, I love "Freedom" and GNU/Linux is a "Free" OS. The second thing is that the GNU Project has a huge number of distributions, so I can easily choose suitable distros I like. Finally, GNU/Linux OS has many advantages, especially in security.
It is true that I love Fedora so much than other GNU/Linux distros because of the Fedora's Core Values.
I am currently an active member of the Hanoi Linux User Group (HanoiLUG).
Activites within Fedora
I organized and participated in Fedora events, including:
- Distributing Fedora Media (CDs,DVDs) for free to students studying at my school and others
- Organizing Fedora release events with Mr. Truong Anh Tuan [2] from Fedora 14 to Fedora 16 in Hanoi
- Helping students and everbody join the Fedora Project and its Sub-Projects
- Explaining to everbody about four core values of Fedora usually
- Organizing Fedora studying classes with Mr. Truong Anh Tuan [3] and others from 2009 to present in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, etc
I also joined Fedora Sub-Projects, including:
- The Fedora Free Media Program
- The Fedora Ambassadors Project
Other Activities within FOSS Community
Within Foss Community, I organized a lot of FOSS events at school where I was studying. Moreover, I participated a large number of FOSS events such as:
- Ubuntu release parties from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 11.10 in Hanoi
- Software Freedom Day from 2009 up to now
- GNOME 3 release party in Hanoi
- FOSS@HUS, FOSS@ICTU in 2011
Objective
I love GNU/Linux so much, so I want to be a FOSS Contributor. Actually, I want to be a Contributor to the Fedora Project to represent, promote, expand the Fedora Project and its ideals to the large FOSS Community in my country.
Summary
In the furture, I hope that Fedora will be the best OS and there will be more and more people using Fedora in Vietnam. Finally, I want to say "Thank you!" to all of Fedora members and Fedora Community.
