Fedora Women aims to provide a central forum and point of support for the often under-represented side of Fedora's Community.
'''Fedora Women''' is a project designed to connect and assist women who are interested in using and contributing to [[Fedora]].

A large portion of the Fedora userbase is made up of women.  They are often under-represented within the community, with many people not even realizing how big a share of the community they are. The Fedora Women program aims to improve that representation and to provide a forum for the women of the Fedora Community.
Because it is estimated that only 1.5% of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_and_open_source_software free and open source software] (FOSS) developers are female,<ref>[http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/osrc/article.php/3838186/Sexism-Open-Source-Softwares-Dirty-Little-Secret.htm Sexism: Open Source Software's Dirty Little Secret]</ref> Fedora Women is crucial in both uniting and empowering women against gender-based stigmas, which are often considered detrimental to the success of female FOSS developers. Since being announced in July 2006,<ref>[https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-announce-list/2006-July/msg00003.html Introducing Fedora Women]</ref> Fedora Women has striven to raise awareness of the female community - along with the many roles women have as contributors and users - within the Fedora Project.

Fedora Women is a project designed to connect and assist women who are interested in using and contributing to Fedora.

Because it is estimated that only 1.5% of free and open source software (FOSS) developers are female,[1] Fedora Women is crucial in both uniting and empowering women against gender-based stigmas, which are often considered detrimental to the success of female FOSS developers. Since being announced in July 2006,[2] Fedora Women has striven to raise awareness of the female community - along with the many roles women have as contributors and users - within the Fedora Project.

Mission statement

The project provides a central forum where women in the Fedora Community can work or socialize with one another without the distractions that may appear elsewhere.
