1 Fedora Project Community Corner Booth February 13th, 2026 - February 14th, 2026 1100IST-1700IST (Day One) and 1100IST-1500IST (Day Two) Akashdeep Dhar, Samyak Jain, Matthew Miller, Yashwanth Rathakrishnan and Shounak Dey The Fedora Project booth will demonstrate the latest developments in the Fedora Project ecosystem, including recent infrastructure improvements, package management innovations, contributor community initiatives and steadfast distribution development. Attendees can explore hands-on demonstrations of Fedora Linux across various devices and connect with Fedora Project community members. We will highlight Fedora Project's role as a proving ground for decisions and innovation accessible to everyone that eventually shape enterprise distributions (like CentOS Stream, Red Hat Enterprise Linux etc.) of the future, in the free and open source software environment. https://pretalx.devconf.info/devconf-in-2026/talk/review/TQCSCVR93QHVNXXNYSUMGUVMPRAFUGEJ
2 New House, New Rules: From Building Fedora Forge to Fixing Longstanding Painpoints Talk (45 minutes) Rejected Rejected Akashdeep Dhar Fedora Project is undergoing significant infrastructure changes that affect everyone from distribution users to individual contributors - that is migrating from Pagure to Forgejo as its primary Git forge for both source code and package sources. Our talk chronicles the journey from the early days of collective debating between GitLab and Forgejo with Fedora Council, through the ongoing migration of thousands of repositories with Fedora Infrastructure.

While the initiative began due to the need to move away from Pagure, it gradually evolved into one that also aimed at fixing the long-standing pain points faced with workflows. We got the opportunity to streamline the processes that made sense about a decade back and have since then, slowly started getting in the way of contribution. This also allowed us to contribute back to the Forgejo upstream with the features that would end up benefitting all.

Our findings serve as a blueprint for other distribution maintainers facing similar infrastructure decisions with maintaining their collaborative applications and services. They can take advantage of Fedora Project's learnings on building compatibility bridges, CI/CD workflow modernization, granular permission models, existing toolchain integration and comprehensive documentation - to ensure a sustainable approach to their significant infrastructure changes.

3 Demystifying the Fedora Release Process Talk Rejected Rejected Samyak Jain In this presentation, we will delve into the intricate world of the Fedora release process, examining it through the lens of a newcomer. With a focus on clarity and accessibility, we will unravel the inner workings of the release process, providing a comprehensive understanding of its various stages and the role of the release engineering team.

Our exploration will encompass the fundamental steps involved in bringing a Fedora release to fruition. From the initial planning and development phases to the rigorous testing and validation procedures, we will uncover the meticulous efforts that go into ensuring a seamless and reliable release. Furthermore, we will highlight how changes are incorporated into the release process. By shedding light on the evaluation and integration procedures, we aim to demystify the journey of a change from conception to implementation, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the process.

By attending this session, participants will gain valuable insights into the Fedora release process from a newbie perspective. Whether you are an aspiring contributor or simply curious about the inner workings of this esteemed distribution, this talk will provide you with a solid foundation to engage with the Fedora community and contribute to its ongoing success. Join us as we demystify the Fedora release process, illuminating its stages, intricacies, and opportunities for improvement.

Rationale

DevConf.IN 2026 presents a strong opportunity for the Fedora Project community to reinforce and expand its presence across the APAC region, with the utilisation of India as a strategic launchpoint into further eastern parts of the globe. India, being one of the fastest growing hubs for free and open source software adoption and contribution, and Pune, having a major concentration of prestigious educational institutions, the location play a strategically critical role in the global open source contributors network. A renewed Fedora Project presence during an in-person conference helps significantly lower the barrier to entry for local contributors by enabling direct engagement with existing contributors, regardless of which means of contribution folks might be interested in.

DevConf.IN organisers have thankfully provided us with the space to introduce attendees to the four foundations of the Fedora Project, interaction with the community governance, and pathways to begin contribution, thus helping us with our goal of onboarding and retaining contributors in the long run. The strategic placement also takes advantage of the presence of local Red Hat establishments - a bunch of which actively contribute to the development, testing, translation, designing and documentation of Fedora Linux releases. Along with the regulars around the Fedora Project, we can tap into their helping hands to help represent the community there to potentially onboard a wide populace of college-going students who visit DevConf.IN to learn more about free and open source software.
