Description

Test playing audio files using Decibels (the default audio player in GNOME).

Setup

  1. Make sure that Decibels (package decibels) is installed.
  2. Download or prepare some example audio files to play. Fedora supports open audio codecs, so audio files with e.g. mp3, vorbis, opus and flac codecs should be playable by default.

How to test

  1. From GNOME overview start Decibels (it's named Audio Player in the app list)
    • If you have multiple audio players installed, make sure you launched the correct one by looking into Menu -> About -> Website.
  2. Open the desired audio file and check that it plays correctly.
  3. Test pausing and unpausing the playback.
  4. Test seeking in the audio playback, jumping to different positions in time, both forward and back.
  5. Test changing the playback volume, muting and unmuting.
  6. Test opening a different audio files all available means - e.g. using a file open dialog, by drag&dropping the file, or by launching the audio player from a file manager by opening the selected audio file.
  7. Perform some additional Exploratory testing.

Expected Results

  1. The audio files should be loaded and played correctly, if there's codec support in the system.
  2. All operations should behave as expected.
  3. If there are multiple ways to achieve an action (e.g. using a button, or menu, or double-clicking, etc), all of them should work.
  4. Please report all failures to the upstream tracker.
