Can't make the date?
If you come to this page before or after the test day is completed, your testing is still valuable, and you can use the information on this page to test, file any bugs you find at Bugzilla, and add your results to the results section. If this page is more than a month old when you arrive here, please check the current schedule and see if a similar but more recent Test Day is planned or has already happened.

What to test?[edit]

Today's installment of Fedora Test Day will focus on Upgrade Test Day

Who's available[edit]

The following cast of characters will be available testing, workarounds, bug fixes, and general discussion. In case of problem related to test day organization/wiki/whatever, please reach out to sumantrom.

Prerequisite for Test Day[edit]

  • A system (real or virtual) you can install Fedora to, and not mind if it breaks
  • A Fedora 35 image: download Workstation or Server or KDE and other spins
  • For Previous Test Cases: download Fedora 36
  • Make sure to use the latest version of dnf for F36 is installed

How to test?[edit]

Run the tests[edit]

Visit the result page and click on the column title links to see the tests that need to be run: most column titles are links to a specific test case. Follow the instructions there, then enter your results by clicking the Enter result button for the test.

Reporting bugs[edit]

If you have problems with any of the tests, report a bug to Bugzilla usually for the component dnf. If you are unsure about exactly how to file the report or what other information to include, just ask on IRC and we will help you.

Anaconda will display an error dialog allowing you to report the problem to Bugzilla. This will also automatically attach logs, error message and traceback to the report -- this way of reporting bugs is preferred.

  1. Fully updated Fedora 36 Workstation to Fedora 37 via the Software Application. Razer Blade Advanced Mid 2019, external monitor and peripherals working flawlessly. System Update via dnf after the upgrade produced no issues. The only issues I have encountered is some Gnome extensions and OpenRazer are not compatible with Fedora 37.

  1. RHBZ #2132863 Same bug as in the F35/F37 test. It seems it depends if dnf catch an out-of-sinc mirror or not. If it find the most recent background packages, then SDDM brokes.
  2. Succesfuly ugraded. Mirror still found F37 5.19.12 kernel (not the latest 5.19.13) at first, but reboot was fine and F37 started correctly, SDDM loaded fine, with correct background.
  3. RHBZ #2132863 Just linked the bug ticket.
  4. SUCCESFULL UPGRADE from F35kde to F37kde but then SDDM started without background and user avatar (all white screen). After fixing that on system settings and restart, all was fine again.

  1. Very slow install process, took probably a few hours. This may have been because I had been running the debug service (sudo systemctl add-wants system-update.target debug-shell.service) for the upgrade. System came up properly afterwards, running fine. I had set up and called the install remotely (SSH session) and hadn't checked if there were any messages on VT9.
