About me

Hey! I'm Cornelius Emase 👋 --- I was serving as an Outreachy Intern with the Fedora Project (June–August 2025) working with the DEI team. I began my journey during the Outreachy contribution period, focusing on Fedora Docs, DEI, and regional contributor support.

I'm passionate about inclusive contributor experiences, sustainable local advocacy programs, and creating better documentation workflows for open source communities — especially across underrepresented regions.

Current volunteering in Fedora

  • 📝 Fedora Docs: contributor, workshop organizer, and editor
  • 🌍 DEI Team: contributor, planning inclusive events and drafting community growth frameworks
  • 🤝 Fedora Join SIG: supporting contributor onboarding and peer learning
  • 🛠️ Event Organizer: organized a Fedora Docs workshop and ran university outreach events in Kenya
  • 📢 Regional Advocacy: drafting the Reviving Regional Advocacy in Fedora framework

PS: I’ve been volunteering since March 2025, and plan to continue contributing beyond my internship!

Interests

  • Community development and contributor onboarding
  • Docs, design, and contributor storytelling
  • DEI work and inclusive governance
  • Regional open source growth and sustainability
  • Kernel and web/mobile development

Fun fact

I proudly represent Turkana, Kenya — a place often overlooked, but filled with talent and drive. I’m here to make sure open source reaches everyone 🌍.
