Fedora 8 Icon Review
As of September 15 in Fedora Test 2+, here are the issues in F8's icons.
APPLICATIONS > GRAPHICS
- gthumb icon looks blurry. the artwork itself would probably look fine if it wasn't so blurred.
- actually the fedora icon looks slightly blurry too - it looks like it is not aligned to the pixel grid.
APPLICATIONS > INTERNET
- 'blog entry poster' icon looks... pretty bad. I think this one needs actual artwork.
- Contacts icon looks blurry, the artwork would probably look fine if it wasn't blurred.
- Email icon looks blurry. There should be an alternative icon for this in the gnome-icon-theme though, an image of an envelope. I'm guessing this is some kind of icon theme/packaging issue?
- Ekiga icon looks blurry. The artwork would be okay if it wasn't blurry.
(Xchat gnome appears in screenshot and is blurry but is not included in default install.)
APPLICATIONS > OFFICE
- Abiword icon looks blurry. There is likely alternate artwork for this somewhere.
- Gnumeric icon looks blurry. There is likely alternate artwork for this as well.
- Tasks icon looks blurry. I know there is an icon for this in the gnome icon theme but it seems to only be in the 24x24 dir, but a 22x22 one could be easily made...
APPLICATIONS > SOUND & VIDEO
- CD player icon is blurry. The artwork doesn't really match the theme either.
APPLICATIONS > SYSTEM TOOLS
- Bluetooth analyzer - would probably be ok if not so blurry.
- Bluetooth filesharing - would probably be ok if not so blurry.
- disk management - would probably be ok if not so blurry.
- disk usage analyzer - would probably be ok if not so blurry.
- gparted - would probably be ok if not so blurry.
- new login - would probably be ok if not so blurry.
- root password - bluecurve. Are there alternates? also blurry.
- SELinux Management - bluecurve. Are there alternates? blurry.
- SELinux Policy Generation Tool - bluecurve. Are there alternates? Blurry.
- SELinux troubleshooter. Bluecurveish. Are there alternates? Blurry.
SYSTEM & SYSTEM > ADMINISTRATION
- About Gnome icon looks blurry!
- About Fedora icon looks blurry!
- Authentication is bluecurve, and blurry. Are there alternateS?
- Bootloader is blurry.
- Date and time is bluecurve and blurry.
- display is blurry.
- firewall is blurry.
- keyboard is bluecurve and blurry. I *know* there is a gnome icon for this.
- language is bluecurve and blurry. I *know* there is a gnome icon for this.
- Network kinda looks blurry.
- Network devices is blurry and the icon looks kind of bad. Are there alternates for it?
- Services looks blurry and is bluecurve. I am pretty sure there is a gear icon in gnome icons.
- Soundcard detection is blurry and is bluecurve. I am pretty sure there is a gear icon in gnome icons.
SYSTEM > PREFERENCES > PERSONAL
- input method is bluecurve and blurry.
- keyboard accessibility is blurry.
- preferred applications is blurry.
SYSTEM > PREFERENCES > LOOK & FEEL
- desktop effects is bluecurvy and blurry
SYSTEM > PREFERENCES > INTERNET AND NETWORK
- bluetooth is blurry
- personal file sharing is blurry
SYSTEM > PREFERENCES > SYSTEM
- database access properties is blurry
OTHER
- puplet icons are blurry.
