Fedora provides a complete suite of amateur radio applications, including numerous sound card applications, support for logging, rig control, antenna and propagation modelling, circuit design and simulation, APRS, Echolink and more. These release notes only describe new and changed packages for Fedora 12. For a more complete list of applications see Applications_for_Amateur_Radio on the wiki.

Fedora 12 includes the latest version of image:Echo-package-16px.pngkicad which incorporates a huge number of minor bug fixes and usability improvements. For a complete description of the many changes please refer to the upstream changelog at http://www.lis.inpg.fr/realise_au_lis/kicad/.


xcircuit

image:Echo-package-16px.pngxcircuit has been updated to version 3.6. The application now handles multiple schematic windows and has been expanded to allow handling of larger projects. Libraries are now arranged according to "Technology Prefixes". To learn more about these improvements please refer to the release notes at http://opencircuitdesign.com/xcircuit/.

Logging and Related

xlog

In addition to a number of bug fixes, image:Echo-package-16px.pngxlog now includes a feature to ease handling of unknown countries. When "Tools -> Find unknown countries" is selected, xlog will show a list of contacts for which DXCC lookup fails. You can then correct this by using a "DXCC-" string in the awards column.
