PaulKent has no developmental skills at all. The only programming I understand is Turbo Pascal, and I haven't seen it for over 10 years.
I like to set up operating systems.
Linux user at heart. I'd probably descibe myself as somewhere around an intermediate user, but always learning. I will probably never realise the full potential of the LINUX system's power, as I have no programming background and Grew up with DOS and Windows. I have only been using LINUX for around 2-3 years. I have downloaded a few different strains (Ubuntu, Redhat7.2, 9,FC3-6, Mandriva). I find Fedora the most reliable and recoverable when I make a mess of setting up peripherals and hardware.
I have also setup a MAC OS on my PC and find OSX to be pretty stable as well. Pretty unique OS, but still has a LINUX feel and control. Has some very powerful multimedia programs (seeing as though they rule the multimedia world).
I have used every version of Windows and I have constantly had to keep viruses and spyware off the system with no success. Eventually it creeps up and destroys the OS. I can't keep Windows on a computer for more than 6 months (Unless no internet is involved). Windows annoys me to no end...Crash, crash crashity crash! "Oh, let's take up all the computer's resourses so it takes 5 mins. just to get the start menu to open!"
I love using LINUX, particularly Fedora (Ubuntu does crash/lockup and Matizze seems to be very memory hungry.). I actually had a copy of redhat 7.2 for years, but never did anything with it. For years I had been using Win and putting up with the spyware for a long time (complained about it constantly). I attended a party one evening and got talking to a fellow about my dramas. He told me to have a go at installing LINUX. I went home half cut and decided this was it...I installed redhat and after several months decided to get a hold of FC3 and get some real experience. And one thing led to another, and here I am.
Other interests include anything Mazda Rotary, Fixing stuff (I can fix just about anything).
Anyway, that's enough tooly kind of talk. I am looking forward to contributing to the Fedora Project (even though I can only aid in distribution) and sticking it to the other guys.
