Description

This test case tests whether a media player is capable of basic audio and video playback with supported free formats.

Setup

  1. Ensure the media player to be tested package is installed
  2. Ensure audio output is available and working

How to test

  1. Run media player to be tested - you can use your desktop's menu system, or a run dialog box, or a console
  2. Try to play a video+audio file in WebM format: you can find such a file here or here
  3. Try to play a video+audio file in Ogg Theora / Ogg Vorbis format, such as any of the 'OGG' labelled files here
  4. For both video types, try stopping, starting, pausing, and fast-forwarding / rewinding

Expected Results

  1. Videos in WebM and Theora / Vorbis format should play smoothly (given reasonable hardware) and without artifacts, errors or crashes
  2. Stopping, restarting, pausing / resuming, and seeking through video should work without problems
