Description

This test case will verify the improved graphics console support added in Fedora 11.

How to test

  1. Start an install using virt-manager or the command-line utility, virt-install.
Specify OS type and version
When creating your virtual machine, be sure to specify an operating system type and version. This can be selected from virt-manager or by using a virt-install command similar to:
# virt-install -n f11 -r 1024 -f /var/lib/xen/images/f11.img -s 4 \
 -v --accelerate --vnc --os-type linux --os-variant fedora11 \
 -l http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/development/x86_64/os/
  1. Respond to the installer questions (keyboard, language, installation source) and proceed to the graphical install screen
  2. Proceed through the installation, selecting any options needed for your setup.
  3. When the installation has completed, click Reboot.

Expected Results

  1. The install should complete without any errors.
  2. The installer and, if a desktop environment was installed, the installed system should both start X at a resolution of 1024x768Confirm the resolution by running:
    grep "(\*\*).*1024x768" /var/log/Xorg.0.log
    (**) CIRRUS(0): *Default mode "1024x768": 65.0 MHz, 48.4 kHz, 60.0 Hz
  3. The installer and installed system should recognize the Cirrus logic VGA controller.
    # lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Cirrus Logic GD 5456
